With over $745 million in the kitty, Deadpool creates Box Office history

Deadpool

Still from the movie.

Ryan Reynolds-starrer superhero flick Deadpool, which hit cinema screens in the country this Valentine’s Day, has minted more than USD 745 million worldwide.

Opening to USD 132.4 million in over three days and USD 152.2 million over the four-day Presidents’ Day weekend in February, the movie fared beyond expectations of all film critics.

It surpassed the USD 100 million benchmark in its opening weekend. Moreover, Deadpool had the biggest February opening in box office history.

With this, the movie has managed to become the highest-grossing R-rated film in box office history, a tag which was earlier held by Keanu Reeve’s The Matrix Reloaded.

Based on the Marvel Comics character, the movie tells the story of Wade Wilson – a former Special Forces operative – who hunts the evil scientist for transforming him into Deadpool – A man with accelerated healing powers and scarred physical appearance.
