Vijay Mallya’s passport to be revoked

Despite being summoned three times by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), chairman of the now-defunct Kingfisher Airlines Vijay Mallya failed to appear before the probe agency each time.

Hence today, the agency asked the passport office in Delhi to revoke Mallya’s passport.

The agency had issued fresh summons to Mallya on April 9 after he sought two extensions from the earlier dates of March 18 and April 2 citing official reasons.

He is being summoned by the agency in connection with a money laundering probe in the over Rs 900 crore IDBI loan fraud case.

Kingfisher Airlines has also defaulted on bank loans of over Rs 7,000 crore, and the grounded airlines owes over Rs 9,000 crore to 17 banks in the country.

Mallya and his company have come under the scanner of multiple investigating agencies in the country for alleged violations of norms.
