After a hugely successful stint at the box office, Director John Favreau and writer Justin Marks will be returning with a sequel to The Jungle Book.

Even before the film hit the big screens on 15 April (April 8 in India), rumours of Disney working on it’s sequel were doing rounds on social media. Now, the studio has officially announced the follow-up to the fantasy drama.

In addition to The Jungle Book, the studio is also planning on making a sequel of “Maleficent” and a spin-off of 101 Dalmatians and Cruella. All the films are in various stages of planning and studio has staked out various dates, but there is no confirmation on which flick would release first.

Last week, Disney had announced that the Jungle Book has become the highest grossing Hollywood film in India, raking in Rs 157 crore within the first 12 days of its release. The film has already surpassed the lifetime collections of Fast and Furious 7, which at ₹ 108 crores, held the record so far.
