Residents oppose Raj Thackeray’s rally at Shivaji Park

Shivaji Park residents have moved to Bombay High Court against the use of loudspeakers in Raj Thackeray’s upcoming Gudi Padwa rally.

In the recent past, the lack of election victories have resulted in Raj Thackeray’s party, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), to lose ground and weakened their appeal to the general public.

In an attempt to revive the public’s faith in the party before the upcoming BMC elections, Thackeray planned to conduct the party’s maiden Gudi Padwa rally on April 8 at Shivaji Park.

Unfortunately for Thackeray, residents from the neighbouring Shivaji Park have objected to the rally owing to the use of loudspeakers. Although the party has managed to procure the necessary permissions to conduct the rally, citizens are questioning BMC’s permission since Shivaji Park falls under a ‘silence zone’.

Bombay HC will hear the matter today.
