The biopic on the life of the controversial cricketer was bound to have it’s share of controversy.

Helmed by Tony Dsouza, ‘Azhar’ stars Emraan Hashmi and is a biopic based on the life of Indian cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin. The film, even before it’s release, is likely to face legal action.

Former Bollywood actress Sangeeta Bijlani is gearing up to sue the makers of Azhar because she feels that her character, which is being essayed by Nargis Fakhri in the film, has been portrayed in poor light. Bijlani’s objection is with the fact that her character is being portrayed as a ‘home-breaker’.

Bijlani plans to watch the film and take legal action against the filmmakers if she finds the portrayal of her character unacceptable. Many believe that she was not pleased with the making of the movie since it reminded her of the time she was married of India’s ex-captain Mohammad Azharuddin.

Apart from Bijlani, former cricketer and the key witness in Azharuddin’s match fixing scam, Manoj Prabhakar, along with Navjot Singh Sidhu and Kapil Dev also asked the makers of the sports drama to show them the film prior to its public release.

The former cricketers were also concerned about their portrayal in the film. Prabhakar, especially, feels that since the biopic is on Azharuddin’s life, it would portray him in good light.

Since the makers failed to respond, even Prabhakar is contemplating taking legal action against them.

Azhar is set to hit the big screen on May 13.
