The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education will declare the result of the School Secondary Certificate (SSC) July supplementary exam 2016 today, August 30.

During the main exam held in March, 14.3 lakh out of 16 lakh students had passed. The remaining, 1.7 odd lakh students were eligible to apply for the July re-exam, but the number of students who gave the exam was lower.

The results of the re-exam, which were held between July 18 to August 3 across the state, will be announced online at 1 pm on the board’s website.

Students can check the results by following the steps below:

1. Visit http://www.mahresult.nic.in/
2. Click on the SSC Examination Result July 2016 (link will be added to the website before 1 pm)
3. Enter the requisite details like roll number and mother’s maiden name
4. Hit ‘View Result’ button

Note: The results will also be available on maharashtraeducation.com and results.nic.in.

Students will have to contact their respective schools to know when the physical marksheets will be distributed. Those who wish to apply for a reevaluation, can do so by September 9 by submitting a copy of the online or physical marksheet to the board.

This is the second year when the SSC re-exams were held in July following the announcement by State Education Minister Vinod Tawde.

Unlike previous years, when the exams were held in October, holding the re-exams in July presented students with an opportunity to resume their academic year without any breaks.

While students will certainly benefit by saving a year, they will have a difficult time enrolling in a college of their choice. The Education Department has already allotted seats to over 2 lakh students from Mumbai under the five rounds and two special rounds.

With the third and final round currently underway, more seats will be allotted by the time the process completes on September 2.

“I am extremely happy about the prospect of saving a full year, but now I am equally worried about getting into a decent college. The authorities have announced so many lists that most good colleges have exhausted their seats. I wanted to enroll in Chetana college for Commerce, but they have zero seats available. Its the same case with all other colleges. I am hoping that at least some seats are reserved for students like us,” said Prashant Parab, who is eagerly awaiting his result tomorrow.

There are currently 75,000 seats vacant across Mumbai colleges. So all students who clear the re-exam will end up getting a seat.

Their admission process is expected to start after the culmination of the ongoing final round for students who cleared March exams and end before mid-September.
