For most girls, going bald is absolutely devastating. Mona Kumari, age 9, had to shave her hair off completely due to her Cancer treatment, which affected her personality in a big way and this little wallflower retreated into a niche in the wall. She looked at me with an emptiness in her eyes. Her mother told me she was once a very lively girl who loved to smile and get photos of herself taken; but ever since her diagnosis of Leukaemia… her extreme weight loss and repetitive treatment had taken a toll on her. This was my first meeting with her at the NGO – Access Life.

Despite the pain she had to endure, the team at Access Life did everything to give her a happy stay. Right from concerts, celebrating festivals to talking to her for hours and giving her a big hug; they didn’t leave a moment to make her smile.

Their hard work paid off, as about a year later, Mona would now go back to her village CURED. The doctors mentioned that Access Life played a Major Role in helping her treatment.

As I bid her goodbye , she was overjoyed on kicking cancer in the butt; however, tears streamed down her eyes because she would miss her loving family at Access Life.

Mona is just one success story amongst many that they have helped and will continue helping.

Access Life is an NGO which provide free of cost accommodation, nutrition & counselling to Children suffering from cancer along with their parents.  All they need from you is to come down and spread some happiness on the childrens faces. So come down and say hello!
