The state transport department has suspended the licence of the auto-rikshaw driver who had last week, forced 30-year-old Asmi Shah out from his vehicle saying she was ‘too heavy’.

Confirming the action taken against the errant driver, Transport Commissioner Shyam Vardhane said that the authorities have suspended the permit of the auto driver under Sec 53/1D of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988. Also, the vigilance squad has been directed to confiscate the said vehicle.

A travel agent by profession, Shah had decided not to turn a blind eye and ignore the matter. Instead, she approached the local police station and also informed the traffic department. Now, that an immediate action against the arrogant auto-driver is taken, Shah feels satisfied with the development.

With this, Asmi Shah sets an example for others to come forward to raise their voice against any wrongdoings, as there are many more such errant drivers who need to be taught a lesson.
