West Indies win World T20 championship, India cheers for Kohli

It was the ladies first who ended three-time defending champions Australia’s domination by winning the ICC World T20 title with an emphatic eight-wicket victory.

A few hours later came the men who took charge and snatched a victory from the clutches of the English Team and conquer the gentlemen’s game at Eden Gardens.

Man of the Match: Marlon Samuels

Man of the Series: Virat Kohli

The West Indies have emerged as World T20 champions today, and what a thrilling conclusion to the tournament this has been. Carlos Brathwaite struck four mighty sixes in a row when his side looked dead and buried, and ensured that his team gives the women’s team a company and they West Indians take home two World Cup trophies home.

Soon after the match got over, Carlos Brathwaite, the hero at the death, said: “That was an amazing knock from Marlon. He took responsibility and played a fantastic knock. Can’t really express how much of a top knock that was. The U-19s did it, the girls did it, and now us.”
