Michelle Kakade

47-year-old Michelle Kakade is set to complete her great Indian quadrilateral run today after 194 days of running.

Kakade, who hails from Pune, will reach Gateway of India today – the point from where she started – marking the end of her run and enter the Guinness World Records for covering the route on foot in the fastest time.
The 47-year-old had embarked on her journey from Mumbai on October 21, 2015. She ran to Delhi then Kolkata, Chennai,  Bengaluru and back, covering a total of 5,954.98 kms in 194 days.
Kakade’s real motive behind the run, however, wasn’t getting her name in the Guinness World Records. The mother of two also wanted to raise awareness about women empowerment. She wanted to prove to women that life doesn’t end after the age of 40.
At the start of the journey, Kakade had said that she wanted to take up something that was physically challenging as people wouldn’t believe that a woman could run 6,000 kms in 200 days. She wanted to break that stereotype and set an example for those women who feel that their life is finished after their children cross 20.
With her achievement, Kakade wants to send out a message to all the women urging them to create their own identity,  pursue their dreams and ultimately motivate them to take up things that people believe they can’t do.
