1. 24-year-old Rakesh Rajput surrendered to the cops on Monday after slicing an auto-rickshaw driver’s finger over an argument for parking space.

The incident transpired around 11.30 pm on May 5 when the victim, 42-year-old Bhagwan Appa Kengar, returned home and was about to park his vehicle at the usual spot opposite Shivayi Rahivashi Mitra Mandal in Mulund. On reaching, he found that a bike was already parked there. The two-wheeler belonged to the accused, Rajput and when he was asked to take the bike aside, he refused to do so.

3. Left with no option, Kengar parked his auto-rickshaw right behind the bike and went home. A few minutes later, Rajput arrived at Kengar’s residence and asked him to come outside. Rajput started verbally abusing Kengar as soon as he stepped out and it lead to a heated argument between the duo.

4. Losing his temper, Rajput pulled out a chopper from behind and attacked Kengar. In an attempt to resist the attack, Kengar lifted his left hand when and his ring finger got chopped. While Rajput fled the spot, Kengar was rushed to a nearby hospital by his friend. A case was registered against Rajput, who was reportedly drunk at the time of the incident.

5. On Monday, Rajput arrived at the police station and confessed his crime. After which he was produced in a local court and was remanded in police custody till May 12. The Mulund police have booked him under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC.
