1. On Saturday, MRA Marg police detained 43-year-old Sameer Sayyad while he was attempting to run away with stolen money.

2. The incident happened around noon when Sayyad visited the Central Bank of India’s Fort branch.

3. While on the lookout for an easy target, Sayyad noticed a customer who had kept a Rs 50,000 bundle on the counter. While the customer was busy counting cash, he grabbed the bundle and tried to make a run with it.

4. But the customer noticed Sayyad and alerted the guard. Although Sayyad managed to dodge the guard, he ran into police inspector Sandeep Sawant right outside the bank. After the inspector realised what happened, he chased after him and managed to detain him soon after.

5. While in custody, Sayyad confessed to his crime. Later, when the cops tried to find if he had any priors, they realised that he had 21 theft related cases registered against him.
