According to a proposal sent by Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) to state government, commuters might have to pay between Rs 10 to Rs 80 for a ride in the four upcoming metros.

As per a report in DNA, MMRDA has proposed to the state government to fix the fares for the upcoming metro lines to a minimum of Rs 10 for the first 3 km travel, with an increase of Rs 10 for every 6 km.

While the deadline for the Dahisar-DN Nagar Metro 2A and Dahisar(E)-Andheri (E) Metro 7 is set for 2019, officials are fairly certain that the work won’t complete by then. DN Nagar-Mankhurd Metro 2B may get pushed even further. Moreover, since the MMRDA is already working on commencing work on the Wadala-Ghatkopar-Thane-Kasarvadavali Metro 4, it is imperative that they finalize tentative fares before the projects are completed.

The proposal to charge Rs 10 as initial fare with an additional Rs 10 for every 6 km was recommended by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). MMRDA has proposed these rates for Metro 2A, 2B, 4 and 7.

The fare for the existing metro, Metro 1 (Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar), is set to Rs 10, 20, 30 and 40 depending on the number of stations travelled.
