Earlier this month, the Rs 98,000 crore bullet train project between Ahmedabad and Mumbai had run into a roadblock after Maharashtra state government refused to provide plot for the proposed Mumbai station.

Now, a source has revealed to Indian Express that the state government is set to withdraw its objection to using land at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) to build an underground station.

Earlier, when Railway ministry had asked for less than 1 hectare of the BKC’s 28 hectares land for the station, the state had refused citing a potential revenue loss of Rs 10,000 crore.

However, a revised plan submitted to the CM’s office is under consideration and is likely to get a go ahead.

In return, the state will expect some concession for building the Mumbai International Financial Services Centre on a piece of land that does not qualify as ‘special economic zone’ according to the centre.
