Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ pre-poll ‘Our City Our Agenda’ campaign received an overwhelming response, with over 7 lakh people having sent in their suggestions so far.

In a first of its kind campaign, the CM sought suggestions from all sections of the society, urging them to highlight the issues in their respective localities, in a bid to promote transparency and increase public participation.

The crowdsourced suggestions would form a crux of the party’s election manifesto for the upcoming civic polls in the state, including the BMC.

As of writing this, the ‘Our City Our Agenda’ campaign has received over 7 lakh suggestions from people via telephone calls, WhatsApp messages and social media.

According to the campaign’s official website, 559,758 suggestions were received through telephone calls, 145,113 via WhatsApp messages and over 22,337 people sent in their suggestions via social media.

The suggestions cover a wide spectrum, ranging from making civic officials more accountable, infrastructure improvements, better traffic management, switching to clean energy, tackling pollution, bettering healthcare facilities among others.

In his message to the public, Fadnavis said, “I express heartfelt thanks to all the citizens of Maharashtra for sharing your agenda for your city with me. Your contribution is an example of how citizens and the government can together bring a positive change. We are committed to draft our manifesto, and subsequently our policies in the municipal corporations, in context of the suggestions received.”

The people who sent the top 20 suggestions have also been invited by the CM to his residence ‘Varsha’ today evening to discuss the BJP Manifesto.

To increase the event’s reach, the entire discussion will be streamed live on social media. Titled ‘Aawaaz Parivartanacha’, it will be moderated by popular Marathi actress Pallavi Joshi.

The discussion will also have an interactive element, as citizens will be encouraged to ask questions, give suggestions and vote on the issues raised by using the hashtag #AskMahaCM. The CM will also respond to questions asked by the live audience.
