Passenger arrested for watching porn in front of air hostess on Mumbai-bound flight

A businessman from the city was arrested for allegedly watching porn in front of an air hostess onboard an Indigo flight from Kolkata to Mumbai.
According to a Hindustan Times report, the incident took place around 10 pm on Saturday, while the flight was enroute to Mumbai.
The 43-year-old, who was seated in the economy class, first asked the attendant to bring him a glass of water. While serving him, she noticed that the passenger was watching porn on his mobile phone.
The neighbouring passengers were asleep at the time.
Later, he asked the 26-year-old to bring him some hot water. When she returned with the water, he tilted the phone towards the air hostess.
Certain that the passenger had deliberately moved the phone towards her, she alerted her woman supervisor. The supervisor, who also caught him watching the clip, subsequently alerted the pilot.
On the pilot’s intimation, the airport police arrested the passenger from Mumbai. Since the accused had deleted the clips by the time he was arrested, he was also charged with evidence tampering.
The airport police, which falls under the jurisdiction of Mumbai police, booked the accused on Sunday on the basis of the air hostess’ complaint.
He was arrested under section 354 A (3) (showing pornography against the will of a woman), 294 (obscene act in public place) and 201 (Causing disappearance of evidence) of the Indian Penal Code.
In custody, he told the police that he had not shown the clip to the attendant intentionally. Meanwhile, the businessman has been remanded to judicial custody and his phone has been sent to the forensic lab to retrieve the deleted clips.
The accused runs a small business of selling marble and granite in the city.
