Railways staff and volunteers took up the initiative of giving a makeover to King’s Circle station, on the harbour line of Mumbai suburban rail network, earlier this week.

The volunteers thoroughly cleaned the station and it’s surrounding areas, post which they repainted most sections of the station along with its entrance and facade.

The beautification involved the use of bright colors, and volunteers even painted some socially relevant messages within the premises.

According to Narendra Patil, Chief Public Relations Officer of Central Railway (Mumbai Division), Station Manager N K Sinha motivated the staff to beautify King’s Circle station.

In a bid to keep the station clean, posters urging commuters to not spit and throw garbage in the dustbins were also put up.

In October last year, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had inaugurated the ‘Hamara Station, Hamari Shaan’ initiative, which entailed the beautification of 36 Mumbai suburban stations.

The volunteer driven initiative saw participation from over 20,000 volunteers and several NGOs, who cleaned, painted and beautified the stations with murals and artwork during the ‘Daan Utsav’ week from October 2 to 8.
