Prove how Mumbai is similar to Patna or quit politics: Thackeray to Fadnavis

Shiv Sena and BJP are embroiled in yet another argument ahead of the BMC polls, this time over Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ remark comparing Mumbai’s civic body to that of Patna.

While Sena has been happily flaunting a copy of the Central Government’s Economic Survey recently, which pegs BMC as one of the most transparent civic bodies in the country, the CM rubbished Sena’s claims.

While addressing a public rally in Mulund, the CM stated that the civic body scored absolutely nothing in parameters other than transparency.

“Where ever they have scored good points is only because of the work done by state government,” claimed Fadnavis.

The CM also remarked that the municipal corporation of Mumbai was not very different from that of Bihar’s Patna, drawing parallels between the two on the grounds of the alleged corruption.

“They may be making tall claims but they are sharing position with Lalu Prasad Yadav’s Bihar. That is where they have taken Mumbai to,” alleged Fadnavis.

Needless to say, the comparison drew sharp criticism from Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray, who slammed the CM for comparing the two and challenged him to prove his point or quit politics.

“The CM has insulted both Patna and Mumbai. If CM’s comparison of Mumbai and Patna is proved right, I will quit politics, otherwise he should .” Uddhav said while addressing public meeting in Kandivali.

Speaking about the Economic Survey, which has become one of their biggest talking points of late, Uddhav lashed out at Fadnavis.

“How can the BJP deny their own Central government report? They lie so blatantly that even those of us who talk the truth get confused. A liar cannot be the Chief Minister of Maharashtra,” Uddhav said.

“The Sena will never lie for getting votes. The people of Mumbai will have to choose between liars and those who have work experience,” he remarked.

The Sena leader also attacked the former ally over the alleged Chikka scam, demonetisation decision, Nandlal committee report and PM’s foreign visits.
