In a shocking incident, a labourer was rushed to a hospital with iron rods stuck in his body on Friday evening after he fell inside the basement pit of an under construction building opposite Free Press House in Mumbai’s Nariman Point.

According to reports, the incident took place around 8 pm, following which fire department was notified about the mishap. When officials arrived at the scene, the 25-year-old was being rescued by the police.

However, the labourer, identified as Rajendra Pal, could not be rescued by conventional means as he had fallen on iron rods, two of which had penetrated his body. Eventually, the rods were cut from the ground and he was rushed to St. George’s hospital.

Pal, who was working at the site, allegedly fell into the pit by accident. Doctors are yet to confirm if any of his vital organs were damaged by the rods. As of publishing this report, Pal was alive and undergoing treatment at the hospital.
