ONGC chopper crash: 6 bodies recovered, search ops continue

Search and rescue teams have managed to recover six bodies after a chopper Pawan Hans helicopter with seven persons, including five ONGC officials and two pilots, on board was lost at sea minutes after taking off from Juhu Airport on Saturday morning.

The police informed that the bodies have been brought to Cooper Hospital for postmortem. Of the six bodies, five have been identified and search for the missing is still underway.

Currently, four Indian Naval ships (Teg, Tarasa, T 11 and T 45) are undertaking the search in the area. One Dornier aircraft has completed the search and one P8I Long Range aircraft has conjoined the search with two SAR kits along with Coast Guard ships.

The Pawan Hans helicopter with five ONGC officers, including three of the level of deputy general Managers, went missing around 10.40 am yesterday. The chopper crash is being probed by the aviation regulation DGCA.
