A massive fire broke out in the building housing DMart in Mumbai’s Dahisar area on Wednesday evening.

Details:

Location: According to preliminary information, the fire broke at a call centre on the fifth floor of Laxman Tower, which also houses DMart. The building is located at Mithagar Road near Anand Park in Kandarpada on the New Link Road, Dahisar West.

Time: The mishap took place between 5:30 and 6 pm today evening, following which fire department was alerted.

Severity: Officials from the fire department reached the spot with three fire tenders and water tankers.

Casualties & damage: The call centre has been evacuated and no casualties have been reported as of publishing this report. However, heavy loss of property is estimated.

Current status: The fire has been brought under control as of 7 pm and cooling operations are underway. Further details are awaited.

Cause of fire: The cause of the fire is not yet known.

The incident comes hours after seven people were injured in a fire that broke out in a 16-storey Royal Park residential building in Kanjurmarg earlier today.

The blaze broke out in the C-wing of the building around 8:07 am and it was brought under control by 9:30 am. The fire is believed to have been caused due to a short-circuit in the power meter box on the ground floor.
