A fire broke out in a residential building in Thane’s Tembhi Naka area on Thursday night.

The blaze broke out on the 3rd floor of the ground plus six-storey Glacia Building, located on Eduljee Road opposite Jain Mandir in Tembhi Naka, Thane West. The incident reportedly took place between 9 and 10 pm.

The 650 sq.ft flat, believed to be a construction office owned by Mahesh Patel, was located above Hollywood Optician.

Following the incident, officials from local police, regional disaster management cell (RDMC) and fire brigade, with two fire engines, two rescue vehicles, one water tanker and one QRV, reached the spot.

The fire was brought under control after a few minutes of firefighting.

According to locals, the blaze was caused due to a suspected cylinder blast. However, a confirmation from the fire brigade officials is awaited.

The incident did not result in any casualties.

Earlier in the day, a five-year-old boy lost his life and his mother sustained serious injuries after a wall collapsed on them following an LPG cylinder blast inside their house in Navi Mumbai.
