4 cars destroyed in fire near Rutu Estate opposite Commissioner’s bungalow in Thane
Four cars parked inside a residential complex at Ghodbunder Road in Thane were destroyed in a fire on Monday evening.
The incident took place around 5:30 pm at Rutu Estate, located at Patlipada on Ghodbunder Road in Thane West. The official residence of Thane Municipal Commissioner and Hiranandani Estate are both located in its vicinity.
Fire department was alerted about the blaze immediately following the incident, post which three fire engines and one water tanker arrived on the spot.
The blaze was brought under control after almost half hour of firefighting.
Officials from Thane’s Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) were also on the spot.
According to eyewitnesses, the blaze originated in the jungle area next to where the cars were parked, although an official confirmation from the fire department is awaited.
The fire quickly spread to four cars, a Honda Amaze (MH 43 AT 3960), a Ford Figo (MH 04 HF 4830), an Opel Corsa (MH 04 BS 1424) and a Maruti Alto (MP 09 CR 1684).
The front and mid-sections of all four vehicles were completely charred due to the fire. However, no casualties were reported.
Further details about the cause of fire are awaited.
In a similar incident, three cars parked outside Kelavani Masturi Kundangaur Manharlal Girl’s Hostel in Vile Parle West were completely burnt earlier today. No one was injured in that incident as well.
