Fire breaks out at Cama Industrial Estate in Goregaon
A day after fire broke out at the Crompton Greaves factory in Kanjurmarg, another fire was reported at building in Cama Industrial Estate in Goregaon East on Monday morning.
According to initial reports, the fire engulfed the basement of a three-storey building located inside Cama Industrial Estate. The building’s basement was allegedly being used to store cloth by a textile merchant.
The fire broke out around 6:30 am and fire department was immediately alerted about the incident. By 7 am, four fire tenders arrived at the spot.
As of 9 am, firefighting is still underway. The cause of fire will only be clear once the fire has been completely doused and officials have conducted a preliminary investigation.
No casualties have been reported till now. Further details are awaited.
This is the third fire-related mishap in the city in the last four days. Earlier, a shop in Lamington road had caught fire on Friday and another fire was reported at the Crompton Greaves factory in Kanjurmarg during the wee hours of Sunday.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has told the state assembly that 6,512 buildings across Mumbai and its suburbs will be subjected to fire audit by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Update (10 am): Fire brought under control around 9:30 am. Damage confined to cloth and office furniture. No casualties.
