Kapil Sharma and team enthrall audiences at London’s Wembley
In a short span of time, Kapil Sharma has transcended from a stand-up comic on television to a household name in the country.
Having said that, the popularity of the comic, and his show in fact, isn’t particularly limited to India. After winning over audiences with their show and performances back home, the entire cast of Sony’s ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ enthralled Londoners when they performed at Wembley’s SSE Arena earlier this week.
Wembley, the venue otherwise reserved for some of the biggest shows and concerts on the planet, played host to the entire cast of the show, including Sunil Grover, Ali Asgar, Kiku Sharda, Sumona Chakravarti and Chandan Prabhakar, last Saturday.
After last week’s performance, Kapil Sharma became the first Indian stand up comedian to have the honour of performing at Wembley.
The packed crowd, which also included leading Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam, welcomed each performer with a thunderous applause. Sonu even performed a small bit for the audience along with Kapil.
Needless to say, the crowd just couldn’t get enough of Kapil and his team. As a result, instead of adhering to the original scheduled time of 2 hours, the cast extended their performance by over an one hour.
The show was announced earlier in July and tickets were reportedly sold out in no time. Prior to London, the cast had performed in Dubai as well.
Kapil’s rise to stardom began with hosting ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’ on Colors, but he left the channel after a disagreement with the producers and went on to produce and star in ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ in early 2016.
