Dhoni resigns but wife Sakshi still connected to Amrapali

Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni resigned as brand ambassador of realty firm Amrapali, six days after unhappy residents of an housing project in Noida started a social media campaign asking the cricketer to disassociate himself from the builder.

Residents of Noida’s Sector 45 Amrapali Sapphire Society had tagged Dhoni in their tweets complaining about the delay in completion of the housing project. The locals asked Dhoni to either dissociate himself with the builder or force him to complete work. Although Dhoni severed ties with the builder, he assured the locals that ‘what is promised by the builder, will be delivered’.

A day after Dhoni’s resignation, official documents accessed by a leading news channel reveal that his wife Sakshi Dhoni is still associated with the Amrapali firm.

The papers show that Sakshi Dhoni is a director at Amrapali Mahi Developers Private Limited. The firm is involved in running a hospital and a charity in Dhoni’s home state Jharkhand.

While talking to the channel, the company spokesperson mentioned that they are winding up the charity and clarified that Mrs. Dhoni was never associated with the firm’s real estate business. In the meanwhile, it is likely that Sakshi Dhoni will step down as a board member of the Amrapali Group.
