Man threatens to blow up Ambernath station as his Karjat-CST local was late
In a bizarre incident, which even highlights the importance of local trains in the lives of people, an unidentified man yesterday threatened to blow up Ambernath railway station. The reason: His Karjat-CST local was running late.
The CST-bound local, which was supposed to arrive at 8.51 am, hadn’t reached Ambernath station even after 9.15 am. Tensed of being chastised by his bosses for turning up late at work, the man called up the landline number of the station manager’s office at 9.15 am and hurled abuses at the person who answered the call.
When the phone was handed over to Jitendra Nath Jha, the deputy station superintendent, he berated him too. It was after this verbal rampage that the man threatened to plant a bomb and blow it up.
Taking no chances, the official summoned the Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), dog squad and Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) who scoured the station for two hours looking for the supposed bomb. Of course they found nothing.
However, a case has been registered against the man at Kalyan GRP under Section 507 (criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication) of the IPC.
Also, given the station manager’s office has a caller ID, the man’s number has been submitted to the Kalyan Police who are now on a look out for him.
