Chinese actress Zhu Zhu makes her Bollywood debut opposite Salman in ‘Tubelight’
Months of speculation surrounding the female lead of Salman Khan’s upcoming film ‘Tubelight’ have finally come to rest.
While initial reports claimed that Deepika Padukone or Katrina Kaif were finalized for the part, it’s now confirmed that the female lead is none other than Chinese actress Zhu Zhu.
The Kabir Khan helmed film will mark the Bollywood debut of the Chinese actress, who has seen her fair share of popularity in the rest of Asia. Zhu Zhu has appeared in films like Shanghai Calling, What Women Want and The Man with the Iron Fists. Most recently, the actress was seen in Netflix original series, Marco Polo.
Earlier, before the film had gone on floors, the director had said that the film will have a ‘Chinese element in the story’.
On Wednesday, Salman reached Ladakh to begin the shoot for the film, where Zhu Zhu clicked a snap with him and posted it on her Instagram. Although surprisingly, after a few hours, the actress deleted her post, while continuing to post pictures of her Ladakh visit. Three days back, she had also shared a picture from Mumbai, captioning it, “My first Hindi lessons”.
The film will be the third collaboration between Salman and Kabir, who have previously given blockbusters like ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ and ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’. When asked if the film will be on the lines of their previous outing, Kabir said, “In terms of its emotional space, it is similar to Bajrangi Bhaijaan. But the story is very different. It is more of humour and emotional space that we (Salman and I) haven’t delved into.”
The film is scheduled to release on Eid next year.
