3 dead after bus rams into stationary truck on Mumbai-Pune expressway
At least three people were killed and 14 people sustained injuries after a bus hit a stationary truck on the Mumbai-Pune expressway during the wee hours of Monday.
According to officials from the Pune Rural Police, the mishap took place in the Kamshet area around 4 am when the private luxury bus, carrying around 35 passengers, was on way to Satara from Navi Mumbai. The bus was affiliated with Bhawani travels.
The bus driver apparently lost control over the wheels following which the vehicle hit a truck, which was parked on a roadside after it broke down, deputy superintendent of police, Lonavla division, Navneet Kanwat was quoted as saying.
The bus landed on its side following the collision, leaving three dead and several others injured.
“Three people were killed in the mishap. Around 12 to 14 others were injured. They were rushed to a hospital in Talegaon where they were undergoing treatment,” he said.
The deceased were identified as Sayaji Patil (65), Sambhaji Shivaji Patil (45) and bus driver Mohan Ananda Nalawade (35).
Meanwhile, Kamshet police have filed an accidental death report in the case.
