At least four people were rescued from a residential building in Andheri after a part of slab collapsed on Tuesday morning.

The incident took place around 10:30 am at number 70, a ground floor structure in Old MHADA Society on S.V Road in Andheri (West).

Four people were trapped in the debris, following which Mumbai Fire Brigade and local police were informed.

Officials from the fire department successfully managed to rescue all four residents from the debris. Of the four, a 32-year-old woman sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Cooper Hospital in an unconscious state.

She is out of danger and receiving treatment at the hospital, confirmed Cooper Hospital CMO, Dr Ramesh. The woman has been identified as Moniyara Shaikh.

BMC officials are on the spot to ascertain the cause of the accident and decide if the building is fit for habitation. Work on clearing the debris is also currently.
