During ganeshotsav, thousands of Mumbaikars take to the streets with friends and families to pay a visit to the city’s biggest and most prestigious ganesh mandals, in what has become a yearly tradition for many.

Recognizing the travel needs of thousands of city-dwellers, the transport wing of Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST) has decided to run special buses during ganeshotsav to make mandal hopping more convenient.

Other than providing a much-needed service to the commuters, the civic transport body also plans on earning some extra revenue by making these arrangements during the festive season. However, it is not clear if the transport body will charge any additional fee over and above the cost of a regular ticket.

Reportedly, 17 special services will ply throughout the night on seven major routes in the city, covering areas from South Mumbai to eastern Suburbs. The buses will ply from September 9 till September 14.

Timing: 10.30 pm to 6 am

Route: Worli village to Kalachowkie
Timing: 12.15 am to 6 am

Route number 63
Route: Tardeo to Sion
Timing: 12 am to 6 am

Route number 69
Route: Museum to Sewree
Timing: 12 am to 6 am

Route number 66 Ltd
Route: Electric House to Rani Laxmibai chowk (Sion)
Timing: 12.30 am to 6 am.
