You can now pay your BEST electricity bill via Paytm
In keeping with the growing popularity of e-wallets, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply & Transport Undertaking (BEST) has now authorized Paytm to collect electricity bill payments from its customers.
The undertaking notified about the digital wallet’s inclusion in the list of available payment options in a release issued on Thursday.
“BEST Undertaking always endeavor to provide better services to its esteemed consumers to pay electricity bills. In addition to existing bill collection centres, BEST undertaking has now authorized Paytm to accept Electricity Bill payments through their mobile application and web portal at paytm.com via different routes, i.e Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking and Paytm wallet,” the release said.
Paytm, owned by One97 Communications, will also provide customers attractive offers and discounts on their first bill payment.
“BEST consumers are requested to take note of this and avail this facility to pay their electricity bills. For first time users of this facility will get attractive offers from Paytm,” it added.
The company has already added the functionality on its mobile and web platforms. Interested users can access the same by opening the Paytm app/website, navigating to ‘Electricity’, selecting ‘Maharashtra’ as the state and ‘BEST’ as the electricity board.
The offers applicable for first time users are also listed on the same page.
Back in April, the company also introduced ‘Digital Gold’ product which allows users to buy, store and sell gold on its platform. More recently, in May, it ventured into banking with the launch of Paytm Payments Bank.
Paytm and its competitors have witnessed a massive surge in adoption since the government demonetized high value currency notes in November last year.
