In yet another incident of attack on cops, the bodyguard of film producer Firoz A Nadiadwala allegedly assaulted a traffic constable who tried to stop him from disrupting traffic at Juhu Tara Road on Thursday night. The police are now in the process of registering an FIR against the accused.
According to police sources, the incident took place around 8:30 pm when Nadiadwala’s wife and kids were leaving Vision School after attending an event.
After stepping out of the school building, the driver and two bodyguards approached their Mercedes. While the driver was trying to exit the premises, one of the bodyguards kept other vehicles on the road waiting, resulting in a traffic jam.
Upon seeing this, the on-duty constable, Balu Patil, approached the bodyguard and asked him to move their vehicle to the side and let others pass. The bodyguard, identified as Samar Khan, took offence and started arguing with the cop.
The argument soon turned violent as Khan punched Patil a few times. However, bystanders quickly rushed to Patil’s rescue and apprehended Khan.
While Patil was taken to a nearby hospital, Khan was handed over the the local police. Juhu police is investigating the case and in the process of registering an FIR against Khan.
Since Nadiadwala is not in the country, he had his business partner Arjun Kumar contact a leading daily to clarify.
“It was a small issue that ended up in an argument and scuffle. His staff will never be disrespectful towards the police without any provocation. By no means will they do something unlawful like this,” he said.
