Passenger arrested for molesting 2 air hostesses on Mumbai-Nagpur Jet Airways flight
In a shameful incident, two air hostesses of a Mumbai-Nagpur Jet Airways flight were allegedly molested by a drunk passenger on Saturday.
According to a Times of India report, the air hostesses gave a written complaint to the flight captain against the 23-year-old travelling on seat number 41E on flight number 9S24460.
The accused, Akash Gupta, had reportedly gone on a vacation to Goa and boarded the Jet Airways flight for Nagpur at Mumbai Airport. According to officials, Gupta had likely consumed liquor while he was in Mumbai.
During the flight, the hardware trader grabbed the hand of the two air hostesses while they were serving him meal. The women immediately informed other crew members, who intervened and stopped Gupta.
After he started arguing with the crew, the captain was alerted. Following which the captain, Gopalsingh Mohansingh, informed the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) about the incident. Gupta was handed over to the CISF on landing.
Later, the CISF handed him over to Sonegaon police who booked him under section 354 (outraging the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
A native of Balaghat in Madhya Pradesh, Gupta was produced before the court on Sunday and subsequently sent to magisterial custody.
In a similar incident, a 29-year-old from Gujarat was arrested for allegedly molesting an air hostess on board a Mumbai-bound flight from Dammam in Saudi Arabia in June last year.
The passenger, Mohamad Ambudkar, had forcefully tried to take a selfie with the air hostess and lit a cigarette inside the washroom, leading to his arrest.
