Santacruz-resident arrested for drunk dialing government offices, asking for ‘weather update’
A Santacruz-resident has been arrested by Madhya Pradesh police for making late night calls to the offices of the Prime Minister, some Chief Ministers and other government offices, and abusing officials.
According to reports, the accused would often call on the official phone numbers of the PMO, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Maharashtra Governor, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The accused, identified as Mangesh Jatale, would make the calls in an inebriated condition and ask the responders about the weather condition.
Upon being told that he could not call on the numbers for such reasons, he would resort to using abusive language. Eventually, officials started hanging up on him to avoid speaking to him.
Since Mangesh refused to stop calling, an official complaint was filed. After taking cognisanze of the complaint, MP police formed a tea to trace his whereabouts.
The team managed to triangulate his location to Mumbai and some of them travelled to the city to apprehend him. He was arrested on Thursday evening.
Upon his arrest, cops seized numerous fake SIM cards from Mangesh, some of which had been used to make the calls to government offices.
The accused, who hails from Nanded and works as a caterer in Mumbai, has also been arrested in the past for creating a ruckus at the ministry office in Mumbai.
