Unable to find parking spot, 5 men damage 30 cars in Null Bazaar
Unable to find a parking spot, five men went on a vandalism spree and damaged 30 cars in the JJ Marg area of South Mumbai early Thursday morning.
According to JJ Marg police, the men had gone to Sion to celebrate the birthday of one person from their group. After having a gala time, the group returned to Null Bazaar area, where most of them reside, around 12:30 am. But, they were unable to find a parking space for their bike and car.
Then one of the accused, Imran Kashmiri, spotted two homeless woman sitting on the footpath. The 35-year-old, who suspected that the women had stolen the battery of his bike in the past, started abusing them.
According to one of the locals, the woman collect scrap and steal batteries from vehicles and sell them illegally. They also have a case registered against them at JJ marg police station.
When the women started shouting, a local called the police control room. But before cops could arrive at the spot, the group left for Maulana Azad Road to park their vehicles.
When they were unable to find a parking space at Maulana Azad Road as well, they went on a rampage and started damaging the windshields of cars, taxis and tempos with iron rods. The commotion alerted the locals, who gathered to catch the miscreants.
While everyone else managed to escape, the locals caught hold of Imran and handed him over to JJ Marg police. Imran led the cops to his friends, who were arrested subsequently. All five were booked for rioting and destruction of private property.
Meanwhile, since a part of Maulana Azad Road falls under the jurisdiction of JJ Marg police station and the other falls under VP Road police station, both will register a case separately.
