Uber slashes car pooling price by half for Delhi’s Odd-Even 2.0
In the wake of Dehli government’s plan to re-introduce the odd-even rule from April 15, Uber has decided to slash the cost of its car pooling service to half.
Delhi government had earlier introduced the odd-even scheme in January this year to tackle the pollution and congestion problems in the state. Under the odd-even rule, only odd or even private vehicles could be used for travel in the city on a particular day. The rule exempted CNG and Electric cars.
For the second phase of odd-even, which starts today, taxi aggregator Uber has announced a substantial price cut for commuters who choose to opt for their car pooling service.
The service which typically costs Rs. 7 per km, will be available to users for Rs. 3.5 per km from today in the state’s capital.
Uber sent a mail to it’s users announcing the price drop. The discounted pricing will be applicable to all rides booked from 7 AM to 9 PM throughout the week.
Uber’s discounted pricing will also help the government since a majority of commuters had opted to take a cab during the last odd-even implementation. If more users opt for Uber’s car pooling service instead, it would ensure a higher efficiency at the very least.
