Following the announcement of the third merit list for the First Year Junior College (FYJC) online admissions in Mumbai, Maharashtra School Education Minister Vinod Tawde has said that every SSC pass out will get a seat in college this year.

Tawde has claimed that there are still 70,000 seats available across Mumbai colleges.

The minister also asked both students and parents to refrain from panicking as there are excess seats available in colleges. While he added that more seats doesn’t guarantee one admission in the college of their choice, it does ensure that every student is able to secure a college seat.

“We have plenty of excess seats this year so every student is bound to get a seat. In fact, this year colleges might face a problem because they might not be able to fill all the seats and end up with surplus classrooms or teaching faculty,” said an official from the Education Department.

After the announcement of the third list on June 12, only a thousand students out of the 2.2 lakh that had applied for admissions this year were left without a seat.

The Education Department even announced another round for those who were still left without a seat. During the next round, students who failed to secure admissions till now, along with those who were unable to secure admission due to technical errors will be allotted seats.

The next round is scheduled for tomorrow, July 18.
