Video: Man drives Toyota Innova into Andheri station during peak hours, booked by RPF

In a bizzare incident, an unidentified man drove his vehicle into the busy Andheri station on the western line of the Mumbai suburban railway on Friday afternoon.
The driver, in a golden colored Toyota Innova (MH-06-AF-7469), somehow managed to enter the platform and drive all the way to Platform 6 of Andheri station around 3:30 pm today.
The crowd, needless to say, had no clue how the driver managed to get his car on the station, but were quick to point out that he couldn’t drive there.
According to an onlooker, the crowd directed the Innova driver towards the station’s exit, but he was apprehended by the Andheri Railway Police Force (RPF) before he could leave the premises.
A source has claimed that the man was booked by the RPF, but we are still waiting for a confirmation from an official source.
At the moment, it is not clear if the person in question was simply confused and drove into the station on purpose.

Update: The driver, identified as Rajesh Yadav, told the cops that he was sleep deprived and entered the platform accidentally via the ramp located at the Jogeshwari-end on his way to Bandra. He was returning after dropping someone to the airport.
A medical examination was conducted at Cooper Hospital to ascertain if he was driving under the influence of alcohol. Yadav is a resident of Guzdar Bund in Santacruz and employed as a driver with a construction company, Gammon India.
Meanwhile an official from the Andheri RPF confirmed that a particular section was not barricaded due to the ongoing track extension. The opening will be sealed as soon as the construction is over. A temporary arrangement has been made in the interim.
The car has been confiscated and Yadav has been booked under sections 154 (endangering safety of persons travelling by railway), 145 (nuisance) and 147 (trespassing into railway territory) of the Railway Act, 1989.
