The poster was put up outside Sanjay Nirupam’s house last night

A day after vandalising their Mumbai office, MNS continued its agitation against Congress by putting up a derogatory poster depicting the party’s city chief as a stray dog.

The poster was allegedly installed outside Congress Mumbai President Sanjay Nirupam’s house in Lokhandwala by MNS’ Youth Wing leader Akhil Chitre.

In the poster, Nirupam’s head is morphed on a top of a dog who is sitting next to a bin with bones.

The words ‘Parprantiya Bhatka Kutta’ and ‘Parprantiya Matdaan’ are scribbled next to the dog and bin respectively.

The flex installation even take a dig at Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who is depicted as a silent spectator.

According to one source, Congress workers had protested against the MNS chief on Friday evening by offering him bangles and shouting slogans. Later, MNS workers retaliated by putting up the poster and throwing black ink at Congress’ Bandra office.

The two parties have been at loggerheads since Nirupam had come out in support of hawkers, against whom the MNS had launched an agitation following a stampede at the Elphinstone railway station on September 29.

Their feud intensified after workers of the Raj Thackeray-led party vandalised the office of the Congress leader in Azad Maidan yesterday morning.

Following the attack, police arrested eight MNS workers and booked for rioting, unlawful assembly, criminal conspiracy and other relevant offences under the IPC as well as under the Mumbai Police Act.

“The MNS has carried out a surgical strike on Nirupam’s office. It’s tit for tat,” said MNS leader Sandeep Deshpande, who was among those arrested yesterday.

In response to the attack, Nirupam said it showed the frustration of MNS workers.

“I can understand the frustration of the MNS whose workers are being beaten up by hawkers regularly. Their attack on our office is a cowardly act. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis must act fast or a befitting reply will be given for sure,” he said.

“MNS workers vandalised our party office when nobody was there. The police station is just 25 metres away,” Nirupam claimed.

Meanwhile, Mumbai police have issued a statement, in which it has said any individual or group which resorts to a violent protest and endangers peoples lives and property would face the wrath of law.
