A fire broke out at Gokul Shopping Centre in Mumbai’s Borivali area on Monday evening. The blaze did not result in any injuries or casualties.

Details:

Location: The fire broke out on the top floor of Gokul Shopping Centre located opposite Shri Vallabh Shopping Centre on S.V Road in Borivali West. The mall is located near the entrance/exit of Borivali station’s platform number 1.

Time: The mishap took place around 8 pm today evening, following which fire department was alerted.

Severity: Officials from the fire department reached the spot around 8:20 pm. A total of four fire engines and one water tanker was pressed into service to douse the flames.

Casualties & damage: No casualties were reported as of publishing this report. According to preliminary information, the blaze started in a section where some construction work was underway.

Current status: The fire has been doused as of 9 pm and cooling operations are underway. The mishap sparked minor chaos in the bustling station area, but did not lead to any untoward incident.

Cause of fire: The fire department is yet to confirm the cause of fire.

Earlier today, a fire broke out in a hutment at a chawl in Sainath Nagar area of Majiwada, Thane West following a LPG cylinder blast. The blaze was doused after two hours of firefighting and did not result in casualties.
