Live: Part of Gokhale bridge connecting Andheri East-West collapses, WR services halted
A portion of the road-over-bridge connecting Andheri East-West, Gokhale Bridge, collapsed around 7:45 am on Tuesday, bringing Western Line services to a complete halt.
Major Developments:
# At least six persons have been injured in the mishap. Four have suffered fractures, while two have been admitted to the ICU at Cooper Hospital.
# A team from Mumbai Fire Brigade & NDRF are the spot for search and rescue operations.
# Three people rescued from debris. Agencies suspect more people may be trapped.
# Services, both slow and fast, on Western Line halted indefinitely due to debris on tracks and damaged OHE.

# Central Railway running additional extended services to clear rush from Ghatkopar. Three Kurla locals have been extended till Ghatkopar.
# Services on CR running late by 15-20 mins as of 10:30 am. CR has also opened extra counters at Dadar and Ghatkopar stations.

# Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis spoke to Police and BMC commissioners to ensure smooth movement of traffic.
# BEST buses plying on suburban routes running packed. The undertaking has deployed 14 extra buses between Borivali to Churchgate to deal with peak hour rush.
# BMC responsible for maintaining Gokhale Bridge, says Railway official.
# Commissioner of Railways Safety (Western Circle) to conduct an inquiry into the incident.
# Movement of vehicles above Gokhale bridge also temporarily suspended.
# Commuters travelling from East to West are advised to follow Bisleri Junction – Teli Galli – Surve Chowk- Andheri subway – S V Road.
# Commuters travelling towards the East are advised to travel via JVPD – Sujay Hospital Junction – Mithibai Collage – S V Road – Capt. Gore flyover Parla – Parla East – Aadhar junction – Parla Junction to Western Express Highway.

# Harbour line between Andheri-Vile Parle cleared at 2:15 pm. The first train passed at 2:20 pm.
# Direct train between Goregaon-Churchgate and Goregaon-CSMT to start running shortly.
# Work on clearing remaining debris underway in full swing.
# WR services between Goregaon-Virar and Bandra-Churchgate running smoothly.
# BEST running additional buses from Bandra West to Andheri & Goregaon, Dadar East to Goregaon and Bandra to Borivali.
# WR arranged food packets and water bottles for over 500 passengers stranded in long-distance trains.
# CR running a special train at 2 pm from CSMT via Dadar-Thane-Diva-Bhiwandi to Vasai for WR passengers who want to board short terminated trains from Vasai Road onwards.
