Fatal Addiction: Two youths playing PUBG near railway tracks run over by train
Two youngsters, engrossed in playing online game PUBG on their mobiles, were knocked down by a train in Hingoli district in Maharashtra last week.
The incident took place on Saturday evening at Khatkali Bypass in Hingoli, located over 570 kilometres from Mumbai.
“Nagesh Gore (24) and Swapnil Annapurne (22) were playing PUBG near the railway tracks. They were run over by the Hyderabad-Ajmer train. Their bodies were found late at night by people living in the vicinity,” an official was quoted as saying.
An accidental death report has been registered at Hingoli police station, he informed.
Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds or PUBG, is an online multiplayer ‘battle royale’ game developed and published by PUBG Corporation, a subsidiary of South Korean gaming company Bluehole, in which a hundred players fight it out in a free for all combat for survival and victory.
Amid its growing popularity, there have been calls to ban the game due to it’s ‘addictive’ nature, which experts say gives rise to violent behaviour.
