BJP corporator slaps BMC official over delaying nullah cleaning work at Wadala, booked
A local BJP corporator allegedly slapped a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official for delaying the nullah cleaning work in Wadala.
The corporator, Krishnaveni Reddy, however, has denied the allegations.
The incident took place on Thursday morning at Vijay Nagar Road in Wadala when Yogesh Gotad, a junior BMC officer from F-North ward, was overseeing nullah cleaning work with his staff.
According to reports, Gotad alleged that Reddy argued with him over incomplete work and even after he assured her that the work would be completed by end of the day, the latter lost her cool and slapped him.
Gotad later filed a complaint against Reddy, following which Wadala Truck terminal police registered a case against Reddy under section 353 and 332 of IPC. However, no arrest has been made till now and an investigation is underway.
Responding to the allegations, Reddy admitted that she had an argument with the civic official about the lapse in work, but did not admit to slapping him.
The corporator stated that the official did not complete the cleaning of the nullah at Vijay Nagar Road on time despite repeated complaints and delayed monsoon. With the onset of monsoon, the area is bound to get water-logged, she said.
Earlier this week, mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar had also allegedly slapped the chief engineer of Storm Water Drains (SWD) department, Vidyadhar Khandkar, for failing to complete work near Thackeray residence Matoshree in Bandra.
