Security at Khar station in Mumbai was beefed up after an unidentified international caller warned about a bomb planted at the station premises.

According to officials, an unidentified person called on the landline number of Khar police station on Sunday evening, claiming that a bomb was planted at the railway station. The Khar road station comes under the Western Railway.

Following the call, security arrangements at the station were heightened and a thorough check was conducted. However, nothing suspicious was found.

The call, which officials say was made from North America, was later declared as a hoax.

A case has been registered in the matter and a probe to trace the caller is underway.
