Water Cut: All of Mumbai to face 10% water cut, low-pressure today
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has imposed a 10 percent water cut with low-pressure supply across all city wards on Thursday to undertake scheduled maintenance work.
The civic body’s hydraulic department will replace the valves of the water pipeline during the affected period.
“The department will carry out the replacement of 1,200 mm diameter butterfly valve and 700 mm diameter butterfly valve on south main at Bhandup complex pumping station on November 14 from 10 am to 6 pm for eight hours,” the BMC said in a release.
The Bhandup pumping station can treat 1,910 million litres of water per day, nearly half of the city’s daily water needs.
During the eight hour period, water supply across all wards in Mumbai will be curtailed by 10 percent with low-pressure. The civic body has therefore urged citizens to cooperate with the administration and use water judiciously.
