Mowgli and his ‘The Jungle Book’ friends mint Rs. 40 crores in 3 days
Jungle Jungle Pata Chala Hai that Disney’s ‘The Jungle Book’ has minted over Rs 40 crore in a mere three days and has recorded the highest opening by any Hollywood film in the country.
The Disney classic beat Furious 7 and Avengers: Age of Ultron, as an entire generation that grew up in the 90s humming along the opening title to the animated series, flocked to the theatres for a dose of nostalgia when the film version of The Jungle Book released on Friday.
No wonder the Disney-produced movie earned a whopping Rs.10 crores on its opening day!
Later, the movie went on to mint Rs.13.51 crore and Rs.15.02 crore over the weekend itself. The Neel Seethi starrer has crossed over Rs 40.01 crores in India.
The English version of the film, which has 48 per cent contribution in the box office collection, has Idris Elba voicing Shere Khan. The film also stars Scarlett Johansson, Christopher Walken, Ben Kingsley, Bill Murray and Lupita Nyong’o.
The Hindi version of the film has characters voiced by a host popular Bollywood celebrities. Priyanka Chopra has lent her voice to python Kaa, Irrfan is the voice of the friendly bear Baloo, Nana Patekar has voiced the Bengal tiger Shere Khan, Shefali Shah has lent vocals to the wolf Raksha and Om Puri has stepped in for the character of black panther Bagheera.
