Poster of Emraan Hasmi’s maiden production copied from ‘Call of Duty’
On Friday, Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi unveiled the first look of his upcoming film ‘Captain Nawab’ on social media. What makes the film even special for Emraan is the fact that he turns producer with this one.
‘Captain Nawab’ is slated for a 2017 release under the banner of ‘Emraan Hashmi Films’
The actor had been working on his maiden production, along with director Tony D’Souza, for quite sometime. While we knew that it was going to be a war drama, everything else was kept under wraps.
Prior to this, Emraan had teamed up with D’souza for ‘Azhar’, a biopic on the life of former Indian Cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin.
Emraan unveiled the first look on his micro-blogging account today morning, captioning it “And here it is, my first home production movie !!…”

The poster, in which the actor can be seen donning a uniform of Indian and Pakistani military simultaneously, has certainly added to the intrigue factor. Speculation is rife that Emraan plays a role of a double agent in the film, which is based on a real event in the backdrop of the 1999 Kargil War. It will also be the first time the ‘Jannat’ actor will play the role of an army officer.
While the poster is compelling as is, it piqued our interest for another reason. Which was the similarity with the poster of popular multiplayer video game, Call of Duty. One search for the game’s poster and it becomes clear that the similarities between the two are uncanny. Surely, the resemblance can’t be a co-incidence.
Now, irrespective of whether the makers admit to it, Bollywood has a long history of copying or drawing inspiration from the west. So, we’ll just add this to the list.
