Sanjay Dutt to reprise his role as Ballu Balram in Khalnayak Returns
After a gap of two decades, actor Sanjay Dutt will be reprising his role as gangster Ballu Balram in Khalnayak Returns, produced by veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai.
Dutt played the character of Ballu Balram in the critically acclaimed 1993 action-thriller Khalnayak, co-starring Madhuri Dixit and Jackie Shroff. The Subhash Ghai directorial went on the become one of the biggest hits of the year.
Ghai-owned Mukta Arts and Sanjay Dutt Productions have entered into an agreement to co-produce Khalnayak Returns by the end of this year.
“He (Sanjay Dutt) will play Ballu Balram who comes out of jail after 20 years. The script is at its final stage. Once it’s complete, we will announce the rest of cast and credits,” Mr Ghai told PTI.
The 71-year-old filmmaker also told the news agency that the film will be directed by a newcomer.
During the conversation, the ‘Ram Lakhan’ director also rubbished reports of Tiger Shroff being part of the project.
“We are still waiting to complete the script and will take a call for the rest of cast soon,” Mr Ghai added.
