Andheri RPF arrests paanwalas, mithaiwalas for selling e-tickets
In an on-going drive to curb black-marketing of railway tickets and sale of e-tickets through illegal means, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) have arrested 20 e-ticketing agents.
These agents, mostly paanwalas and mithaiwalas, made fake IDs and booked tickets to sell them at higher price to people.
Taking advantage of the holiday season, when procuring a confirmed ticket of outstation train becomes very difficult, they charged anything between Rs 2,000 to Rs 4,000 extra per ticket.
Booked under Section 143 (i) of the Railway Act, all of them were arrested by the Andheri RPF, and were fined Rs 10,000 each and imprisonment for a day.
